Kids Mustang Training: Beginner

Service Description

We'll be working with an untrained mustang who's hesitant to interact with humans to show him that humans are fun and friendly and safe! Beginner: Together we will form a strong foundation of positive interactions with humans, work on first touches, and getting the horse accustomed to sharing space with humans. We will use Awareness Based Mustang Gentling with least invasive, minimally aversive (LIMA) training methods. Students will gain knowledge of reading the horse's stress signals, respecting his boundaries, and creating a set of clear expectations that empower the horse to feel safe and build trust. We will also work on emotional downregulation techniques to encourage resilience, willingness, and curiosity in our mustang. Our training goal for level I is to be able to halter, lead, pick up his feet and load in a trailer. Advanced: We will continue to work with this mustang on more advanced behaviors once he meets his level I criteria. Now we will move on to move advanced groundwork and husbandry behaviors such as having his hooves trimmed, lateral movement, and maybe even some fun tricks!
